International DJ and producer Norman Doray grew up listening to music, thanks to his parents. He was deeply inspired when hearing the sounds of Bob Sinclar and Daft Punk which attracted him to turntables and DJing.
In 2002, Norman started spinning in several clubs near his hometown in north France and quickly gained a residency at a club in Lille the following year.
A year and a half later Norman was on the move, playing in clubs throughout France and abroad, while making his initial steps production-wise.
Norman’s first release “In The Name Of Love” came in spring of 2006, a collaboration with friend Pierre De La Touche, on German label Starfunk Records. Much to Norman’s delight the track was picked up and playlisted by many DJs.
Not to rest on his laurels, Norman added Arno Cost to the team to form the trio ‘The Freshmakers’. Under this guise, Norman’s second track “Let You Go” was released in 2006 on Serial Records and was considered as THE track of the summer in France. “Let You Go” not only charted highly on radio stations such as Radio FG, Fun Radio and Contact FM but also quickly reached N°1 in the club charts, camping there for 6 weeks - no mean feat for his second release!!
Following this success, The Freshmakers were in demand and went on to remix massive hits in 2007 such as Sunfreakz “Counting Down The Days” and Antoine Clamaran’s blockbuster track “Give Some Love”.
Aside from The Freshmakers, that year Norman’s first solo production “Jetlag” was released on Serial Records which brought him interest from Radio FG who asked him to become their resident DJ. Norman has kept his slot ever since - a one hour floor stompin’ mix show every week.
In Late 2007, Norman teamed up with Arno Cost to produce the now legendary “Apocalypse” which was released worldwide on labels such as CR2, Kontor, News and Universal. This track put both artists on the global dance map, gave Norman his first Essential New Tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show and gained support from the likes of Axwell, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Sebastien Léger, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk.
Thanks to the success of this anthem, Norman moved on to remix fabulous tracks such as “Humanoidz” by Tom de Neef & Laidback Luke (Jsquad), “Delirious” by David Guetta (Virgin), “Baba O Riley” by Cube Guys (Ministry Of Sound), “24H” by Seamus Haji (Big Love) and “Kalle” by Zoo Brazil (Joia), all played out by the biggest names such as Guetta, The Swedish House Mafia, Bob Sinclair, Mark Knight and Dirty South.
Alongside these projects, “The Freshmakers” trio produced their second single “Miracle”, with a massive remix by Mischa Daniels. Again, full support by the leaders of the dancefloors Worldwide.
In the summer of 2008, as a result of Norman’s prevalent production success he was asked by David Guetta to play his infamous Pacha party “Fu** Me I’m Famous” in Ibiza which was a huge honour.
Late 2008, Norman released his second solo single “Krystal” on CR2, Serial Records and We Play and was directly followed by a massive collaboration with Tristan Garner called “Last Forever”, his second Essential New Tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show in 2 years. Pete played it his show more than 10 times and made it one of the biggest club tracks of 2009.
Due to this success, Norman has been propelled onto the world stage, enabling him to play in some of the best clubs around including in countries such as UK, Australia, Japan and South America.
2009 has been a massive year for Norman and has seen him collaborate with talented Swedish producer Albin Myers to produce “Drink N’ Dial”. This track gained heavy support from all the usual suspects and was released on world famous seminal house label Strictly Rhythm. Also, busy on the remix front Norman has produced several standout releases including; Those Usual Suspects – “Shadows” (Ministry Of Sound), David Guetta Ft. Kelly Rowland – “When Love takes Over” and Mark Brown Vs The Face – “Needin u” which became one of Ibiza’s most played tracks of the season.
Over the summer, Norman played at some of the best parties around including; Dark Forest with the Swedish House Mafia in Ibiza, Papaya club in Croatia, Warehouse in Tokyo, Sankeys in Manchester and also returning to David Guetta’s Fu** Me I’m Famous night in Ibiza.
Back from his travels and working hard in the studio, Norman has teamed up with close friend Arno Cost again to remix the anthemic classic “Woz Not Woz” by Eric Prydz and Steve Angello. The remix has gained support from the likes of Pete Tong, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Dirty South, Mark Knight and Bob Sinclar and was specifically created to feature on their comprehensive double mix album recently released on Cr2.
Norman has also just put the finishing touch to his new solo project called “Tobita”, which has freshly received BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tune status and is set to create massive damage on the World’s dancefloors.
Expect plenty more from this raising talent in 2010 who has been dubbed the future of French house music, so stay tuned!!!
