This double CD offering sees Erick blast back into the world of his own recently re-invigorated Subliminal Records label, following the recent worldwide Strictly Rhythm success Strictly Erick Morillo.
Subliminal Sessions: always a ground-breaking mix series that¹s stood the test of time this past decade or so and this year Volume Thirteen ties in perfectly with Erick's return to Pacha Ibiza as the look, feel and sound of Subliminal Sessions Summer 2009.
The concept is something Erick is no stranger to Be Bad! Be Bad with Erick Morillo at Subliminal Sessions on Wednesdays at Pacha Ibiza! The cover artwork and the album marketing campaign ties in with the full Ibiza campaign, which casts Erick as ring leader and this double disc mix is the sound of the devilish devil as he hits the peak time set for one of his uniquely energetic performances, back once again with the ill behaviour! It's party, it's sexy, yet it¹s got an upfront, underground twist.
With Subliminal back and busy on the singles release front since the turn of the year (release #200 will hit this summer), this edition features a great many compilation exclusives, which in many cases only Erick has in his box until now...
As ever, Erick achieves the freshness of tomorrow with a respectful wink to the past. The lead track on disc one is another Subliminal signing that is expected to be a real summer stormer: Burning is from Mark Brown and Juan Kidd (Jason Herd) and is available nowhere else. Shiny Disco Balls is back with a brand new Spanish Fly remix from Subliminal main stay Jose Nunez and Alex Alicia from Who Da Funk. A new Ministers De La Funk record with Duane Harden is joined by a brand new Erick Morillo production, Get Lifted, featuring C&C Music Factory vocalist, Deborah Cooper. Dean Newton and Huggy (Burger Queen) have produced a switchback track that starts dark and ends more uplifting, which has had Erick¹s Œfloors goingŠ ³absolutely mental², of late!
Known internationally for his wit as well as sensational skill behind the decks, straight out of Erick¹s incredible DJ box of tricks comes an I Like To Move It acapella moment on side one, then equally delighting, there¹s the pure sexiness of Lee Colt¹s Kiss & Fly as it seamlessly becomes a classy end of night moment with Delerium¹s Silence, taken with an updated Lissat & Voltaxx remix.
Disc One starts out with what Erick considers to be deep, very sexy and with vocals, taking his audience for a pretty pumped up ride the whole way. The second CD has different influences of minimal and progressiveness, it¹s throbbing but still keeps that sexy vibe. It has very deep basslines but is definitely tougher and darker, in keeping with the way Erick has made all elements of house music come together and exactly how an Erick Morillo experience would play out on the night.
All-in-all, Subliminal Summer Sessions 2009, a compilation that is packed full with music that will feature prominently in his live sets that proves just why Erick Morillo remains at the very top of the game.
