Remixing the likes of Faithless, Felix Da Housecat, Madonna, Kylie and Basement Jaxx to name a few, Robbie is on a constant world tour playing packed out parties in Ibiza, Miami, South America and beyond, also running his label Juicy Music plus his own Juicy clubnights. Now bringing his brand to London for the first time, we catch up with Robbie exclusively before Juicy London this Friday 3rd July at The White House, London.
We heard you have just finished your album, can you tell us about what has been influencing / inspiring the Rivera sound on this album?
On this new album I have been inspired by some 80-90 sounds with a touch of rock grooves and pop music arrangements. There are also some hip house tracks! The first single “Closer to the sun” has a Rivera meets The Killers sound.
Juicy London will be touching down at The White House soon, what are the Juicy rules for a party?
Rules are easy. There is no hardcore door policy - just come to experience my sound!! Juicy parties have such a great atmosphere; you can't fail to have a good time at a Juicy event!
Lizzie Curious who features on a few of the tracks on your new album will be taking over upstairs at The White House with The Curiosity Club. What was she like to work with?
I must say she is the easiest singer/songwriter I have ever worked with. She has a beautiful voice and a great personality and this shows on the songs she does for me.
Apart from Lizzie Curious what other vocalists have been complimenting the Rivera sound?
I have Fast Eddie performing on a killer hip house electro tune and also Moony from Italy in the album as well.
You’ve remixed everyone from Basement Jaxx, David Guetta, Steve Angello to Ricky Martin, Sinead O’Connor and Pink. Out of the current crop of dance pin-up’s who’s tracks would you like to add the Rivera touch too?
I would love to remix U2 and Coldplay. Also ACDC!!
How is your label Juicy Music going, what have you got coming up?
They label is doing great. We have started to release artist albums from artists like DERO, DMS12 & DJ Ralph. We also have my track “Sax heaven” featuring the vocals from Lizzie Curious and remixes by Alex Gaudino & Thomas Gold....this is set to be a summer smasher!
If you could choose anyone in the world (dead or alive) as a mentor who would it be and why?
I get asked this question many times but I never have an answer, sorry!
Juicy Ibiza will be kicking off next month, what is it about the white isle that attracts so many people time after time? What tunes do predict will be big in Ibiza this year?
It’s very simple, Ibiza is a perfect holiday destination for young music fans. Every week you can go to different clubs and listen to the best DJs of the world showcase brand new tunes. You have also incredible beaches and great food!
You're shipwrecked on a desert island, what is your master plan to get back to civilization?
Hahaha If I have my laptop and my usb wifi stick it is very easy! Book a boatride back home!
What else can we expect from you this summer?
Lots of touring and a great tan! I'm also incredibly excited to be finally bringing Juicy to London!
