After setting fire to the terraces in 2003 for the first time with legends such as Brandon Bloc, wowing the crowds in 2004 with a full 90-minute DVJ set at the closing party (a world first), and playing the closing parties in 2007 and 2008, Dan returns to Ibiza to further cement his reputation as a DJ to watch, with musically diverse sets and unique blend of audio, visual and sound-bending DJ’ing equipment.
“I’ve always been fascinated by technology and art, and that point where they meet – or clash,” Says Dan.
Hot on the heels of playing at the Miami Winter Music Conference, Dan will kick things off in the Car Park at the Space opening party on 31st May, before gracing the decks of the top clubs on the island, including sets at the new Ibiza Rocks night ‘Reclaim the Dancefloor’, F*** me I'm Famous at Pacha and Wonderland room with Tomas Hedberg & Jo Mills.
Dan was recently voted No.20 in the DVJ/VJ category in DJ magazine’s top 100 DJ poll and was named one of the top 10 DVJ's in the World in Mixmag alongside Yoda, Sander Kleinenberg, Coldcut and Jeff Mills, an honour with which Dan holds close to his heart. Dan also produced the world's first full-cover mount DVJ mix for I-DJ magazine, which received considerable positive feedback and acclaim from DJ’s across the board.
Dan has also worked for Pioneer Pro DJ for 5 years and his knowledge and expertise were an integral part of the product planning & development of cutting edge products including; CDJ 1000mk 2&3, DJM 800, DJM & EFX 1000, DVJ & SVM 1000.
But unlike the techy exterior and introverted nature of the modern technology connoisseur, Dan is essentially a DJ at heart. Never one to let the ideas and ethos of technology consume or control his music, Dan rocks the crowd with his trademark uplifting sounds and exquisite skills, merely using the technologies and creations at hand to help work the crowd and – more importantly – act as a supplement to the music and reinforcing his reputation as a leading authority in dance music and the development of music technology.
Dan has also graced the decks at a host of parties around the world including; Ministry of Sound, Singapore, to the ever-popular Sonar Festival, Barcelona, the quintessential Glastonbury festival, Space, Ibiza, 4KM, Sofia, Bangkok Battle of the DJ's Party (also a Judge) and The British Film Institute, London. Other highlights include 10 Days Off Festival, The Netherlands, Attica, Shanghai, Poison in Mumbai and the Miami Winter Music Conference.
As a music lover, Dan is also a budding producer. Earning respect from G-club (whom he ran the parties for with Shovell and Gerald Elms), Dan’s last release was a hotly anticipated collaboration with Tom Noise on ‘360 Days’ (released on G-Club Records). Dan is gearing up to release his next EP ‘Chemystrey, which although is as yet unsigned, he will be dropping very soon.
And what with running DJsounds.com, an online, flourishing and efficient blog, for technology lovers and written by like-minded people, Dan has a busy and productive year ahead.
